This article first reviews recent trend and cross-section analysis on racial employment and earnings inequality before synthesizing the evidence on racial inequality’s causes and speculating how these factors might shape future African American outcomes. In conclusion, it offers a framework for addressing the nation’s persistent racial inequality.
